Frequently Asked Questions

Who are the courses designed for?
Our courses are built for practising ecologists, consultants and students who want real, field-ready capability in a biodiversity discipline. Whether you're starting out or sharpening existing skills, each course assumes curiosity rather than prior expertise and takes you to a professional standard.
Who teaches the courses?
Every course is designed and taught by a practising specialist — someone who works in the discipline, not just teaches it. Bat acoustics is led by Nils Bouillard, whose work spans projects in 47 countries and more than a million bat recordings analysed.
How do I know which course is right for me?
Start with the course that matches the work in front of you. Bat Sound Analysis builds the core skills of recording, analysing and interpreting bat calls; the regional Call Identification courses focus on identifying species by their echolocation. Each course page sets out exactly what it covers — or get in touch and we'll point you the right way.
Are the courses self-paced?
Yes. Every course is fully self-paced and online, so you can learn around your fieldwork and projects and revisit lessons whenever you need them.
Do I receive a certificate?
Yes — you'll receive a certificate of completion when you finish a course, which you can share as evidence of your professional development.
How long do I have access to a course?
Once you enrol you keep ongoing access to the course and any updates we make to it, so your learning stays current as professional practice evolves.
How does Team Training work?
Team Training is a programme built around your organisation rather than a fixed course. We start from your projects, technical challenges and experience levels, then combine self-paced courses, live workshops, project discussions and field-based learning to build capability across the whole team.
Will new courses be added?
Yes. BioConserve Academy is growing — we're developing new courses and bringing in additional specialists across biodiversity disciplines. Join our mailing list to hear when new courses go live.
